“Back to Basics” is a program that is presented for “Operators’ eyes only” as well as their hearts and their minds presented exclusively by Peter Good.

‘B2B’ is the story of a young man trying to find his way in life, and his purpose in life, and the influence of a diverse group of restaurant people had on his journey. Stories of taking risks, being provided opportunities, learning not to fear mistakes, learning patience and humility. A restaurant life that was literally filled with blood, sweat and tears.

And then came a small, regional restaurant chain from the Southeast named “Chick-fil-A”, and how it changed his life forever. An unlikely story of influence, honesty and redemption.

Chick-fil-A has seen unprecedented growth in the last several years. With this success comes challenges for Operators, but also for their teams. With team members being asked to do more and often with less people to help, they can become disengaged, disenchanted, and maybe even disappointed with the Brand. Simply put, they often become lost without Operator leadership and involvement.

It is a poignant reminder of how critical it is, now more than ever, for Operators to stay engaged with their people. After all, isn’t that role of influence the most personally (and professionally) rewarding: “to have a positive influence on the lives of all whom come in contact with Chick-fil-A”? As Truett said, “A great company is a caring company”. And Operators ARE our company.
